About this artwork
The portraited of Sofia Soriano and Sophia Lorca was based on "La Confidence" by Elizabeth Jane Gardner Bouguereau. It shows two young women sitting on a wall, and one whispers a secret to the other. Soriano is my daughter, and although she was born in Brazil, she has been spending most of her time in the U.S. Just like Gardner that was American but spent most of her time in Paris. Her girlfriend, Sophia Lorca, is American but Cuban descendent. The two young women seem to share similar characteristics: they are delicate in gestures and appearance but at the same time combative and inquisitive.
