The Flower in Detail – A Study of Being
During my close-up phase, I focused entirely on the intimate world of the blossom. Every curve of the petals, every shadow, every play of light speaks of a beauty that exists naturally – unobtrusive, unintentional, without self-consciousness. I didn't want to "beautify" the plant or impose a particular ideal upon it; it was about capturing its pure existence.
Oil on canvas allows me to highlight the subtle… nuances between light and shadow and to celebrate the dynamic vibrancy of the blossom. The plant simply exists – it is, and that is enough.
While painting this flower, the question inevitably arose: What about us humans? Do we always have to define who we should be, how we look or how we appear? Or can we, like the flower, simply be – with everything we are – and find beauty in this pure existence?
