About this artwork
Crowd tells a story of closeness that is both supportive and challenging. Several abstract figures stand close together, almost merging, without clear faces or defined roles. I deliberately leave it open who is who – perhaps it's all of us.
The layers of acrylic and mixed media, earthy browns and blacks punctuated by turquoise and white, create depth and friction. Traces, scratches, overlays – like thoughts, memories, and encounters that linger.… Some figures appear protective, others lost; one stands apart yet remains part of the crowd.
Crowd deals with belonging and being overwhelmed at the same time. How much closeness is healthy? Where do I lose myself in the collective, and where do I find support? The image captures this tension – between connection, identity, and inner distance.
