About this artwork
Beasts of all kinds inhabit the zoo of their maker. He has created them to amuse himself and the visitors with all sorts of shapes and forms. He resides above his garden, living on his cloud, moulding ever new beings out of stardust. After finishing one of his animals he lets his servant, a fairy, carry it gently down to its cage. These he orders prefab. He always makes sure his creatures fit them precisely. After a day of hard work he likes to watch…

Simon Oosterhuis is a painter, draftsman and sculptor based in the Netherlands who has exhibited nationally and in Belgium. Through his art, he wants to transport viewers into a "colorful and bizarre world filled with strange creatures". Oosterhuis enjoys drawing with colored pencils in an intuitive manner, harkening back to the same sense of freedom he felt when drawing as a child. His distinctive works are created using acrylics and pencils on paper or canvas.
