About this artwork
In this work, I take up the story of Adam—the first human, formed from the earth. The white plaster torso represents this origin, the vulnerability and transience of the body.
For me, the gold leaf emerging from the interior symbolizes the divine spark that Adam received through the breath of God. It represents the indestructible, the spiritual, which elevates man above his earthly nature.
“Adam” reminds me that we all stand between earth and… heaven: created from dust – yet sustained by an inner light.
