Which dissolves as soon as you try to grab it.
Movement, upheaval, that restless force that lies in everything that changes.
Balances that can tip at any time.
Disturbing.
The colors rub against each other, lines collide, surfaces collide, break, open, and swallow each other again.
Nothing is harmonious, nothing is complete.
It is an image of resistance, violence and surrender, between loss of control and the search for direction.…
In contrast to my series “Inner Landscapes,” which speaks of balance, calm, spaciousness, and connection, this work is a confrontation.
An earthquake, an oil landscape in a state of emergency.
An abstract topography of my perception:
the world of people, if you look closely.
And yet only a snapshot.
A section of something larger, an intermediate state.
A brief moment of clattering and crashing before everything sorts itself out again.

Simon Thon studied at the Ruhr Academy of Fine Arts and subsequently worked in advertising before becoming a freelance photographer. His photographic work also maintains a clear artistic expression. Nevertheless, painting remains his true focus. In his studio, his work evolved from early figurative, realistic motifs to increasingly freer abstraction. He rejects the constraints of a single style and understands art as an open process. His painting thus becomes an intimate form of communication and, at the same time, an instrument for understanding the world and its current tensions. Social contradictions, frictions, and shifts act as underlying forces in his paintings, lending them both emotional and intellectual urgency.
