In her work the artist examines social dynamics. This work, like the other paintings from Simone Florell's latest series of works, "Reference # 5.", Can be read as cartographies of human relationships. Each of her pictures is a relationship construct formalized through painting, which she makes available to the viewer in order to be interpreted by him and to reflect his or her own (relationship) constructs and dynamics.

« For me, painting actually works as a systemic structure. »
Simone Florell's paintings explore the needs of our stone age brains and our original impulses. The German artist also examines social structures, the fragility and dynamics of human relationships, anthropology, psychology and personal development, as well as culture and fear. Florell creates using acrylics on thick paper. The colored areas are applied with a brush and sponge, others are made up of layers of glaze.
