About this artwork
The canvas features four identical images arranged in sequence, each characterized by a different chromatic variation. These are color tests created for the subsequent coloring of a sculpture, a moment of research and experimentation that the artist decided to capture on a single pictorial medium. The tonal differences between the four versions establish a dialogue between the expressive possibilities of color, highlighting the artist's sensitivity… in the process of defining the original three-dimensional work.
Travel tickets are applied to the canvas's surface, a tangible testimony to a vacation in Japan. These paper elements introduce an autobiographical and narrative dimension, transforming the work into a visual diary that unites the creative moment with personal memory.
Over time, the canvas remained in the artist's studio, becoming imbued with the material traces of his work: splashes, stains of color, deposits of pigment.
« "Each work offers the viewer a sinuous game of shapes always different from each other, divided by cracks that run endlessly through the entire work." »
Simone Parri, an Italian painter and sculptor, has exhibited throughout Italy. His works can also be found in several private collections in the United States. Parri approaches art with the philosophy that it is not about filling an empty space with a form, it is adding empty space to a form that already exists. He disassembles each shape or form, then reassembles it, adding “the void”. The sculptures are made of plastic polymers which are mounted/suspended on plexiglass.
