In this piece, I poured my heart into capturing the warmth and simplicity of village life by blending naive forms and geometric shapes. The bold, textured acrylic strokes embody the raw energy and rustic charm of a fishing community by the sea. I want this painting to bring a sense of peaceful nostalgia and grounded energy to your space, reminding you of the beauty found in everyday moments.
I am an Icelandic artist with studios in Akureyri and Hafnarfjörður.
My work is inspired by the landscapes, coastal villages, and ever-changing light of Iceland. I am drawn to the quiet stories found in old houses, harbors, and shorelines—places shaped by both nature and human presence. Rather than depicting specific locations, my paintings emerge from memory, atmosphere, and a sense of belonging.
Through simplified forms, rich textures, and carefully balanced color, I seek to create works that evoke warmth, calm, and reflection. My paintings are interpretations of both inner and outer landscapes, inviting the viewer to pause and connect with a feeling rather than a place.
The relationship between people and the sea is a recurring theme in my work. Icelandic fishing villages, weathered homes, and coastal horizons speak of resilience, community, and continuity. These elements form an ongoing source of inspiration and are woven throughout my artistic practice.
