About this artwork
The oil painting depicts my studio partner in a distinct twist off her body's axis. This pose lends the image a tense, almost sculptural dynamism—the body appears simultaneously strong and serene, without being in any way staged. The nudity is not sexualized, but rather part of an aesthetic and mindful contemplation.
The reference was a photo from a previous shoot that my studio partner showed me during a conversation about the male gaze, objectification,… and shame. We wondered how our view of our own bodies would change if there were no male attributions—and whether nudity might then simply be taken for granted.
For me, this image is about a different kind of visibility: not as an object, but as a body in its own power. Without shame, without explanation. Just form, posture, presence.

- Works on commission
Nina Adam is a painter and draftswoman with international training at the Münster School of Design and the Universidad de Salamanca. She prefers to work with oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. Her works combine figurative realism with expressive surrealism; human bodies appear fluid and transcendent, reflecting inner states and presented as energetic fields. She experiments with strong contrasts and creates liminal spaces between dream and reality. Her art invites deep self-reflection, reveals emotional duality, and opens spaces full of fragile connection and spiritual transformation.
