About this artwork
This painting is a detail from one of my favourite trails from my village to the mountains of Ay-Petri.
A couple of years ago there was a big fire, caused by a group of camping tourists. It destroyed a huge part of the forest and created an inhospitable environment for all life.
But time has passed, fresh grass has sprouted and young trees are rising. The birds and animals returned and its possible to wonder around these places ones again.
But still,… the haunting white and empty trunks are still there, reminding us of our weakness, our power, our own death.

« In art, as in human emotions, there are no barriers and nothing is impossible. »
Sofia Albee is a painter, photographer, and draftsman who has exhibited her works nationally, as well as in Bulgaria and the United States. She describes her art as being tightly connected to nature, and enjoys creating outdoors. The discovery of sounds, colors, tastes, and feelings, plays a large part in her inspiration. In her artistic process, Albee endeavors to disconnect and dissolve her human side, as she quietly observes and absorbs nature.
