About this artwork
This painting was born as an attempt to imagine the consequences on man and the environment of a possible global conflict in the 21st century. The artist has chosen to represent a place commonly considered beautiful, desirable, to be protected, and to alter it by playing with colors and shapes until arriving at a hypothetical post-apocalyptic scenario where there is nothing left to save. The choice fell on a glimpse of the island of Sant'Antioco…
in the southwest of Sardinia, a place that the artist recently visited at a time when he thought he had at least some certainties about the future. The place had struck her for the presence of small natural pools that seemed to form separate microcosms among the smooth rocks. However, he could not have known that this work, with its atmosphere of desolation and bewilderment, would today also come to speak of his condition as a neo-thirties adrift.
