About this artwork
This work wants to make a personal contribution on the theme of female violence by specifically treating violence of a sexual nature and the conception of the female body as an expendable object in the name of the pleasure and desire for power of others. In the painting, a naked female body is stretched supine like that of an unconscious sacrificial victim on the altar of an evil deity. The title refers to the Greek word φαρμακός, from which our substantive drug (cure, remedy) derives, which designated in the ancients an individual destined to be an expiatory victim in a purification ritual that was supposed to (re) bring the benevolence of the gods to the city - the cure, the necessary remedy to restore good luck for all other citizens.
