About this artwork
MAParéodole, first born of the series "Somit… or reality".
It is the principle of pareidolia which will give the name to this work "Prim'Air" and lay the foundations of the universe "Vision'Air" of Somit.
Starting from a simple stain, he redraws its contours, sculpts a relief in a few strokes, aestheticizes it to skillfully reshape it into something else.
Somit offers the world an original interpretation to bring to life a universe filled… with strange, expressive characters and creatures, often in interaction.
This work is inspired by myths and legends, fantastic stories that rocked our childhood.

« Imagination in its purest form: the art of bringing what does not exist to life, of persuading others to accept a world that is not really there. -Paul Auster »
Somit is a French painter and draftsman who describes himself as the revealer of the abstract that is hidden within each one of us. The spirituality that emanates from his compositions invites viewers to "dream with open eyes", discovering the truths revealed within each of us. In the creation of his pieces, Somit employs several techniques and mediums including washes, lacquer, shellac, natural pigments, inks, etc. He favors natural shades of brown, ochre, sepia, blurring the lines between modern and ancient.
