About this artwork
In this work, I applied some gold leaf to certain reliefs and metallic, golden-brown paint to other flat and sinuous areas, which play an essential role: that of bringing life.
Depending on the viewing angle and lighting, the surface is transformed, revealing glimmers, moiré patterns, and almost imperceptible areas. Light thus becomes a medium in perpetual evolution.
I created undulations in the blues to evoke a fluid energy, while the lighter,… sandy areas suggest a shoreline, a shifting border between two states. I like to create this space of ambiguity, between abstraction and landscape, where everyone can project their own interpretation.

Sonia Di Maccio is an established painter based in the south of France.
A graduate of ENSAAMA Paris (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et Métiers d'Art), she began her career in advertising where she held several creative positions – roughwoman, illustrator, model maker and then art director, notably within the Euro RSCG agency (Havas).
She now paints nature in all its forms with passion. Thanks to her intuitive selection of colors and the textures that acrylic allows her to achieve, she captures the beauty of nature in a changing world to evoke emotion.
Her works, characterized by luminosity and the power of color, resonate with joy and visual harmony. Her works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions and shows across France and Europe.
