About this artwork
Once again, I chose Spiaggia Baia Arena near Case del Conte as my subject. The small, secluded beach invites you to linger and pause.
Light pastel shades capture the soft morning light. A boat is visible on the horizon, while clouds drift like fine wisps of fluff through the slightly diffused light. The water is crystal clear, and the waves roll onto the shore in a calm, even rhythm. Looking at the scene, one can almost hear the gentle murmur of… the sea.
This is a place of serenity, a place where you can simply be as you are. No rushing, no hustle and bustle, just the soothing peace of the moment.
Sonja Kalmanfi is a painter who creates her art on canvas and paper using pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. She skillfully moves between realism and abstraction, masterfully capturing light, color, and moods. Her works convey a sensual melancholy and invite viewers to connect deeply with nature and their own inner selves at the threshold between dream and reality. She chooses the Cilento National Park in Italy as her setting and source of inspiration, having lived there for an extended period, visiting regularly, and exhibiting her work there. With her consistent focus on the Cilento region, she occupies an exceptional position within contemporary landscape painting there. In her paintings, the landscapes and places of this country merge with the artist herself, her inner self. She uses color as an emotional medium and she not only describes objects or places, but also creates psychological temperature.
