About this artwork
"Vai" - keep going, don't give up - means keep going, always going, along the Cilento coastline, from Camerota to Palinuro, no matter which direction you look, even look into the distance, you can dream of confidence. The turquoise sea mingles with the cold blue water, it's this special, unique blend of subtle light over the sea. The sun doesn't shine harshly, it hides behind a light haze in the sky, the air feels warm on my skin. My view of this… landscape is slightly melancholic, romantic, and this landscape touches me, and if there are still shadows somewhere, they disappear, they only briefly flit across my soul... With delicate pastels, I blend these tones directly on the paper, and my thoughts become completely free, and I sink into this motif.
Sold in a high-quality HALBE frame. Includes catalog.
Sonja Kalmanfi is a painter who creates her art on canvas and paper using pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. She skillfully moves between realism and abstraction, masterfully capturing light, color, and moods. Her works convey a sensual melancholy and invite viewers to connect deeply with nature and their own inner selves at the threshold between dream and reality. She primarily uses the Cilento National Park in Italy as her setting and source of inspiration, where she spends time regularly. In her paintings, the landscapes of this country merge with the artist herself, her inner self. She uses color as an emotional medium and she not only describes objects or places, but also creates psychological temperature. This fits into the international trend of "slow painting" or poetic landscape painting of the present day.
