About this artwork
Using pastel chalk, I have captured the mysterious glow of a hidden cave, the Grotta Azzurra. The light reflections convey the magic of an unexpected glimpse into the light. The Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto) is one of the most famous sea caves in the world and is located off the coast of Capri in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Its legendary, intensely vibrant blue color is created by sunlight entering the cave through an underwater opening. The light is filtered… and reflected by the water, leaving behind this magical, silvery-blue glow that fills the entire grotto.
