About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the stillness of the misty landscape of a place I've known since childhood. The delicate pastel and graphite lines create an almost whispering atmosphere, conveying peace and contemplation; the cherry trees are in their winter slumber. It is meant to remind viewers to find moments of serenity in hectic times and to experience the simple beauty of nature. This painting brings a gentle, calming energy to any room.
Sonja Kalmanfi is a painter with German-Italian roots who creates her work on canvas and paper using pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. Her work is impressionistic and romantic, skillfully moving between realism and abstraction, masterfully capturing light, color, and moods. Her works convey a sensual melancholy and invite the viewer to connect deeply with nature and one's inner self at the threshold between dream and reality. She chose the Cilento National Park in Italy as her setting and source of inspiration, where she spends significant periods of the year. In her paintings, the landscapes and views of this country merge with the artist herself, her inner self, her experience.
