About this artwork
With Lisière du silence (Edge of Silence), Sophie Dumont offers a refined abstraction, structured by thin horizontal layers that establish a calm and measured rhythm. The deliberately restrained composition plays on subtle nuances of gray, muted blues, and mineral tones, creating a silent and introspective atmosphere.
More than a landscape, the work evokes an inner boundary, a transitional space where matter and light engage in a restrained dialogue.… The oil paint, applied in successive layers, reveals traces of gesture and time, lending depth and vibrancy to the surface.
This work is fully in line with Sophie Dumont's approach, who for several years has been exploring the notions of structure, memory and silence through a sensitive and constructed abstraction.
This painting is framed with a natural wood American-style frame, but you can request a black frame.
« To sublimate, to appropriate the subject, to keep only the essential. »
Sophie Dumont is a contemporary French painter born in Paris in 1964. She currently lives and works in Normandy. Her work, primarily oil on canvas, explores the memory of places through abstract landscapes, stylized libraries, and studio interiors. Through the layering of numerous paints and subtle collages, she constructs structured compositions where matter, light, and color interact. Her work is distinguished by a balance between architecture and pictorial sensibility. Exhibiting for over twenty years in France and internationally, notably in Germany, Canada, Belgium, and Italy, Sophie Dumont's work is now featured in numerous private and museum collections.
