On this canvas, I wanted to suggest purity and fragility through a delicately textured surface, enhanced by subtle gilding. The minimalism here expresses a calm, almost meditative emotion, inviting contemplation. There is a diaphanous transparency, like a porcelain complexion. I also see something mineral, or icy, warmed by the gilded veins. Up close, there is much to see, despite the apparent rigor of the whole. The tone is pearl gray to pure white.…
