About this artwork
Inspired by nature, the artwork is minimalist; I wanted to get to the heart of the matter with the simplest forms possible. In a way, I wanted to evoke the essence of the natural elements: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. This last element is the central figure, represented by a simple drop of colored water. This blue... precisely, a unique color that I created using four different blue mineral pigments, measured in a very specific way. The other forms…
are simply dark gray, beige-gray, black, or white.
The plain background is a light beige-grey. I made the canvas washable with an invisible matte varnish.
The whole piece is interpreted in the style of the Bauhaus school or Mid-Century Modern, but with a poetic aim. The painting has a strong character; ultimately, it is timeless in its simplicity and contrast.
The artwork is two in one; when positioned horizontally, and when positioned vertically it becomes "A Drop".
