About this artwork
In this work, I combined oil paint, collage, and pigments to explore the human soul through an expressionist and metaphysical vision. The fragmented face symbolizes inner complexity, while the textures and colors embody profound emotions. This piece invites you to experience a vibrant intensity, bringing a mysterious and powerful energy to your space.
"Scarface" is an original painting from the "Catharsis" series, an art project composed of photo-painting… diptychs. In collaboration with photographer Christian Legay, we explored abandoned urban exploration sites, capturing their silence and their memory to create two-part works:
• A black and white photograph (Christian Legay), rooted in reality. (the figure in a black robe).
• A painting inspired by the photo that contains a part of the photo in the form of an image transfer.
Stéphane Alfonsi, a self-taught painter and calligrapher, fuses pigments, painting, and calligraphy thanks to a rich background with renowned masters. He works in successive layers, separating, extracting, and then reuniting materials, colors, and signs in compositions oscillating between figurative abstraction and symbolism, drawing on alchemy, collage, and superposition. His work, marked by esotericism and spirituality, resonates deeply, inviting inner transformation and the contemplation of the invisible through matter.
