Stacey Okparavero is an exciting Nigerian talent whose works have been exhibited in Nigeria, Senegal and the UK. Driven by her desire for experimentation, freedom and self mastery, she explores and merges the boundaries between visual disciplines to constantly test the possibilities of materiality. Okparavero harnesses influences from Jean Michel Basquiat and Bruce Onobrakpeya, and is additionally informed by her rich traditional heritage. Her resulting paintings showcase gestural strokes of emotional colour, undulating lines and embedded text in an exploration of spirituality, socio-political and cultural landscapes, and the self.
