About this artwork
The image shows preoperatively made slices of cranial MR-images of neurosurgical patients. Sometimes the range of imaging is inadvertently adjusted too wide – besides the brain, also deep layers of the facial skull are displayed, showing bony structures, subcutaneous tissue und mimic muscles. The portraits are depending on the individual inclination of the head and the variable reproduction layering. Conclusions to the actually displayed persons…

I was born in Munich, Germany. After studies of medicine, I was for many years the head of Spinal Neurosurgery at the Neurosurgical Clinic of the University of Munich (LMU). Since 2019 I am working as a neurosurgeon in own practice in Munich. Since many years I am engaged in photography, especially in composite photoworks, com-posings. My series treat themes, I am facing daily, as my former workplace in the University Hospital of Munich, subway stations and scenes of Munich, and the ways and streets, we are moving on.
All images are established from high resolution files for large formats and highest demands on exposure of details. The prints are offered in various formats and limited edition sizes on Aludibond behind glass.
