My intention behind this series of works?
"March 2nd, 2018 was International Species Conservation Day and this year's aim was to draw attention to the special… need for protection of big cats. I got inspired and started a large format series. WWF - Lions are critically endangered, due to habitat loss and illegal hunting, African lions are on the Red List of Threatened Species. They are one of the most fascinating and powerful big cats in the world and a symbol of courage, strength and ambition. Unfortunately, lions continue to be illegally hunted around the world and their habitat is disappearing.”

Stefanie Rogge is a German artist whose works have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. Working in series, her animal portraits are socio-critical in nature. While Rogge's art is a medium of protest, her compositions remain colorful and hopeful. It is her desire to have others rethink their existing values and the consumer behavior of our society.
