About this artwork
The beautiful, colorfully iridescent kingfisher is unmistakable. It is mainly found in slow-flowing or stagnant, clear waters with small fish populations and perching areas. It is an indicator of healthy waters. The underside is orange-brown and makes it appear inconspicuous when sitting on a tree. Depending on the light, the top of its plumage appears cobalt blue to turquoise, which means it blends in with the color of the water.
In this work I… captured the sheer vitality of water using acrylics on canvas. Realistic brushwork brings a dynamic scene of a dive to life. The shades of blue in the water represent calm, while the air bubbles and the momentum of immersion convey energy and freedom. This painting radiates a lively presence in the room and always reminds the viewer of the untamed power of nature.
