About this artwork
This is Senses Exarcheia 01 in a series of 6 artworks, inspired by the graffiti in the so called rebellious quarter in the Greek capitol of Athens. While making the photos for the Virtual Journey of Athens I walked through this area and was inspired to use the feeling and essence of this quarter. This is the area where the free-thinkers of the city have their base. Ideas and protests are expressed by huge amounts of graffiti on almost every surface…
you can use spray-paint on.. So much so in fact, that the message is often lost in the abundance of colours. You need to make an effort to decipher the images and slogans. I felt the need to take this into my own work and combined the loud basic colours, the message and the feeling into 6 artworks using the word combinations I use in my senses artworks. Here too you need to search for the message.
