« Painting is the mirror and the expression of my soul, my language. I've found my water - now I'm finally getting to know my element! »
German artist Stephan Welsch's artworks are sombre and emotive, poignant expressions of one's deepest fears, thoughts, state of being, unspoken wishes and longings. The viewer is drawn into his abstract and figurative works awash with sombre hues and splashes of light. For Stephan the process of creating an artwork is a means of finding an inner peace, an equilibrium which had eluded him for so long. An Abstract Expressionist, Stephan utilizes a variety of materials and techniques to achieve a layered, blurry effect, allusions to details and message that lie just below the surface. Working intuitively each of his artworks are unique and challenge the viewers imagination. Stephan has displayed his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe.
