About this artwork
"Frida" marks a pivotal moment in my artistic journey—the first portrait in The Feminine Wave, a series honoring women who shape our world. After years of exploration, guided by a mentor’s advice to remain curious, I found clarity: my purpose is to celebrate the strength, stories, and presence of women. As an iconic figure of resilience and artistic freedom, Frida Kahlo was the perfect starting point. I envision her reborn in the 21st century—modern,… bold, and unapologetically herself. The vibrant orange background evokes Mexican culture and vitality; tropical leaves suggest nature, fertility, and protection. Her red attire, floral details, and necklace of diverse materials symbolize cultural fusion and layered identity. Her gaze, confident and direct, invites the viewer into a silent dialogue. This oil painting gives Frida space to speak—then and now.
