About this artwork
Oil paint, cold wax medium, marble dust and silver leaf on gallery wrapped canvas. The painting continues around the edges and can be hung as is or placed in a floating frame.
Silver leaf is used in combination with Holbein silver white paint to create an “icey” feel to the piece. Hints of color hide under the transparent white paint and cold wax. The technique gives a shimmering effects when light hits it.

« Color remains a constantly unfolding mystery. »
Stephen Cimini is an exciting American painter with national exhibition experience. The vocabulary for his current work originates from the linear landscape of Manhattan. It explores geometric spaces and their relationships to each other, and also engages a fascination with the mystery of color. Cimini refers to his compositions as 'random symmetry' - works that have no discernible pattern but nonetheless create a sense of balance, order and clarity.
