About this artwork
This painting is currently on exhibition in New York City. Once the exhibit closes if the painting is not sold it will be available again on Singulart.
PLEASE NOTE: There are 3 full-on Images of this painting because the color looks so different depending on the light source. This is in part due to the fact that the painting has many transparent layers.
From the series ANCIENT MODERN PAINTINGS
The MODERN geometric construction evokes a robot-like… biomorphic shape. The ANCIENT arabesque Islamic art in the background is scaled to the point that there is no discernible pattern bringing a new perspective on ancient geometric patterns.
The title for this piece comes from the fact that the arabesque Islamic art and the geometric shape are of similar color palettes merging them together as one.
Oil paint, cold wax medium and marble dust on 2-inch deep gallery wrapped canvas. The painting continues around the edges and is ready for hanging or placed in a floating frame.

« Color remains a constantly unfolding mystery. »
Stephen Cimini is an exciting American painter with national exhibition experience. The vocabulary for his current work originates from the linear landscape of Manhattan. It explores geometric spaces and their relationships to each other, and also engages a fascination with the mystery of color. Cimini refers to his compositions as 'random symmetry' - works that have no discernible pattern but nonetheless create a sense of balance, order and clarity.
