“This painting had specific intent. After a year or more of being bombarded in the news with
images of a very militarized police force continually shooting unarmed people in this country, I
wanted to place such a policeman in a sea of beautiful nature shooting an octopus. The tragedy
and stupidity might be a powerful statement.”
