About this artwork
This piece was just a place to test the 84 colors I use while I was remixing them recently. It served simply as a place to sling the paint to be sure the viscosity was right and that the paint would make the desired mark. It was always intended to be a finished piece, but in the final analysis it was just a way to avoid wasting paint. (In the past I had done this on scrap printer paper and thrown it in the trash.)

Credentials
- Experienced Artist
« The artist doesn’t paint what he sees, he paints what he wants the viewer to see. »
Stephen Mauldin is an American artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited in the United States. Throughout the years, he has made it a habit to play with paint, in order to learn more about what it is both capable of and not capable of doing. This experimentation lead Mauldin to invent techniques involving painting on glass and transferring that paint to canvas, modifying syringes to produce webbed compositions, and, most recently, to sling small quantities of paint onto canvas at high speed. The defining characteristic of marks made in this manner is electric energy, however, the incredibly fine nature of the mark is also striking.
