About this artwork
This is an original acrylic painting of a male figure, melding expressionism with semi-abstract elements.
The figure could symbolize the raw essence of the human spirit, and it's quest for understanding.
It is painted on canvas panel, and is framed in a deep profile, black wooden box frame, ready to hang.

Stephen Mitchell draws upon symbolist and tonalist influences, using mixed-media techniques to reflect his rich background in storybook illustrations. His style is characterized by spontaneous brushwork and textural layering, adding materials like torn paper and sand, crafting paintings with an organic sense of history. His works evoke an ethereal and melancholic atmosphere, connecting viewers to unseen, poetic realms through visual storytelling.
