About this artwork
A series using uprooted trees in landscape painting as an analogy for the inhumane acts happening in my country (USA) where so-called Ice "agents" are indiscriminately ripping people apart, uprooting them from their lives and families. The twisted, earthly forms embody struggle and resilience, urging one to confront what lies hidden inside, demanding deep reflection and igniting a primal connection to strength emerging from disorder.

Like all glossy paintings throughout history, a light reflection or hotspot may be visible from certain angles. Stephen Remick is an experienced American painter whose work has been featured in many solo and group shows nationally as well as in American publications. Growing up in Vermont and now living in Massachusetts, Remick is inspired by the landscape around him and mainly paints nature scenes and backyards covered in snow. His work captures a delicate beauty of sunlight and shadows in the deep woods of New England.
