The Los Angeles Theatre, the last and most extravagant of the ornate movie palaces built on Broadway between 1911 and 1931, was a fitting venue for the Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor on a career roll. This was a time when Danny had transitioned from TV into acting, directing and/or producing more than 50 films. While having a penchant for dark comedies, he was a bit grumpy over his current film,“Matilda”,… which he directed, and he and his wife, Rhea Perlman, starred in. He was praised by critics for “bravely subversive dramatization” which in Hollywood speak means he stole his own movie in his own jaunty high style. “Matilda” was predicted to have sleeper potential, but he was disappointed in not getting support from Sony Pictures and its TriStar subsidiary. “Hollywood is a jungle,” DeVito told me. “It’s full of quicksand, vermin and flesh eating beasts. Making a movie is not a walk in the park. Available in black & white per request

Stephen Wayda is an internationally published photographer best known for his demonstrative images of celebrities and women.
