About this artwork
- Artist's note
We, who came from a distant city, always thought that this city was cold, frightening, and lonely. There were times when we wondered if there was a place for us to belong within this space. However, as we gradually became part of the people in this city, we realized that they, too, are just as lonely as we are. With a childlike imagination, we longed for a world that was warmer, kinder, and sweeter, so we borrowed sweet motifs… like cake and candy to create a sense of comfort. This series of works is both a message of comfort to the members of society and a way to soothe ourselves. In this space, we each maintain a safe distance from one another while feeling free and secure.
