About this artwork
The battle between the two feuding Sinclair clans.
Upon landing at Orkney, William Sinclair of Caithness encountered a witch. After unwinding two rolls of wool on the march, one red one blue, the red ran out first, she prophesised that the first side to spill the blood of their opponent would win.
The first victim they killed was a young boy herding his cattle, it turned out that this young boy was actually a native of Caithness… who had taken refuge on Orkney some time before. The prophecy came true and the whole Caithness clan were slain.

« As an artist I'm constantly exploring different styles and emotions My art is a fusion of contemporary and classical inspired by the old Masters but defined by the 21st century. »
His pieces reference Scottish culture and it's place in contemporary society, tartan abstracts, Celtic symbolism and legendary creatures are evoked on his dark and luminous canvases. A key thread throughout all of Steve's works is the notion of redemption, that the human spirit can rise to be the best it can be and the uniqueness of the individual.
Dramatic and evocative pieces which transport the viewer into a lush other worldly setting.
