About this artwork
This painting is exemplary of two important aspects of the way I presently approach "my trade" so to speak. First, I try to incorporate the figure into an abstract setting without distorting the figure to any great degree. Second, I use glue as an underpainting where I believe it is necessary, that is, I proceed according to my Gloil process in order to give the painting depth and spontaneity.
In addition to the above, I throw in the fact that I'm… a Greek Mythology junkie. So, this is Medea who was not a very nice person. When Jason (as in Jason and the Argonauts) leaves her "at the alter" and marries another, Medea magically makes a wedding dress for Jason's bride that practically burns her alive. But that's not the worse! Check out the story and enjoy the painting.
