About this artwork
The subject is a freshly made Bellini cocktail, invented by, and forever associated with, Harry's Bar in Venice. It is made with pureed white peaches and Prosecco plus a little raspberry juice to give it a pink colour. It was so named because the colour was said to match that of a saint's toga in a painting by 15th-century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini.

Stewart Lees, an artist from the United Kingdom, has exhibited nationally as well as in China and the United States. With each of his realistic pieces, Lees captures the essence and beauty of his model, be it a clove of garlic or a weathered clay pot. He paints with oils on gesso panels, as the surface is smooth and allows him to work with fine brushes on the smallest of details. His compositions also feature elements of trompe-l'oeil.
