About this artwork
A simple rustic meal of goats cheese and country paté, accompanied by a bottle of local red wine are captured perfectly by the artist. The depth of detail is extraordinary - the glaze on the enamel, the reflections of the glass bottle, the bone handle on the knife, even the weave of the linen. This is a painting that rewards calm contemplation. It is framed and ready to hang.

« 'Your painting looks just like a photograph!' It’s true. But look closer and you will find something in each painting that the monocular eye of a camera could never express. »
Stewart Lees, an artist from the United Kingdom, has exhibited nationally as well as in China and the United States. With each of his realistic pieces, Lees captures the essence and beauty of his model, be it a clove of garlic or a weathered clay pot. He paints with oils on gesso panels, as the surface is smooth and allows him to work with fine brushes on the smallest of details. His compositions also feature elements of trompe-l'oeil.
