About this artwork
The process arose from my obsession with what time and labor do to the objects we manufacture. I seek to capture the beauty that emerges when an object becomes "obsolete" and its form is all that remains. The choice of these iron plates is deliberate; their material weight and connection to a pre-industrial era represent resistance, heat, and history.
By isolating them from any domestic context and utilizing raking light, the object dissolves into… an abstract, rhythmic, and textural form. These are not four irons; they are a symphony of shapes—a geological record of human life etched in metal. I am fascinated by how wear and rust create patterns as complex and unique as fingerprints.
