About this artwork
I find in feminine delicacy and charm the deadly weapon against any masculine power. True weakness is that of the man who succumbs to the female. Not that of the female who sighs with a flower. True power lies in the woman behind the powerful man. This inverse of apparent condition is the motif of a mermaid whose lower half is the head of a fish instead of a tail.

Sua Guerra, trained at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Cuba, has worked in metal, wood, and marble sculpture, pyrography, drawing, and installations for over 20 years. He uses realist, surrealist, and hyperrealist techniques, influenced by magical realism, with remarkable virtuosity in detail and execution. His works explore philosophy, psychology, literature, and mythology, and convey profound emotions such as rebellion, human cruelty, and the confrontation between reality and the mask, generating an intense and cathartic experience of reflection in the viewer.
