About this artwork
"Missed" | 103x143cm |
A powerful meditation on solitude and natural immersion, this striking piece captures a lone figure in intimate communion with pristine Australian waters. The composition masterfully juxtaposes the vulnerability of the human form against the raw majesty of wilderness, rendered in a sophisticated palette of deep blues, ethereal greens, and luminous flesh tones.
The work exemplifies my signature exploration of human-nature relationships,… where figurative elements merge with abstract expressionist techniques. The deliberately ambiguous title "Missed" adds emotional depth, suggesting both longing and the transcendent moments we find in nature's embrace.

I transform ancient Eastern wisdom into monumental contemporary artworks that serve as portals to contemplative experience. My artistic practice emerged from a decade of deep wilderness immersion - sitting in stillness by remote rivers, discovering profound clarity in Australia's vast natural spaces. These experiences, combined with my roots in Chinese culture and dedication to Daoist philosophy, enable me to create work that dissolves boundaries between East and West, tradition and innovation.
Through a meditative process of layering ink washes and hand-crafted rice paper on large-scale canvases (1.6-3m), I orchestrate a dance between spontaneity and precision. Each piece begins in complete surrender to the flow of materials, allowing organic patterns to emerge naturally. These foundational landscapes are then transformed through carefully placed paper elements, creating dynamic spaces where viewers can discover their own path to stillness.
