About this artwork
This painting explores the essence of liminality—a space of transition, ambiguity, and becoming. It embodies the tension of being caught between worlds: the known and the unknown, the tangible and the intangible, the structured and the chaotic. Through layered textures and fluid brushstrokes, the artwork captures the fleeting moments of transformation, where forms dissolve and reform, refusing to settle into certainty.
The composition invites viewers… to linger in the in-between, where the darker bottom-right quadrant subtly anchors the piece, yet its influence feels transient, as though it could shift or dissipate at any moment. The interplay of soft, muted hues with bursts of vibrant color mirrors the fragility and potential of these transitional spaces, where boundaries blur and possibilities emerge.
This work is my ode to liminality—a celebration of those moments when we are neither here nor there, but somewhere in the infinite and transformative middle where courage lies.
« As a midwife in an earlier career, a mother and a fine artist, my art practice looks at notions and issues around ideas of birthing, life and death. »
