About this artwork
During an Art Residency in Paris in 2019 the artist focused on classic works seen in the Louvre and gave them a contemporary twist. This work is based on the painting the ‘Three Graces’. Whilst walking through Paris the artist was struck by the number of femicide posters she saw throughout the city. The appendage on the right hand side of the painting alludes to the potential of this threat that womxn universally still face in this 21st Century.… The acrylic painting is on 1cm thick foamcore board.
« As a midwife in an earlier career, a mother and a fine artist, my art practice looks at notions and issues around ideas of birthing, life and death. »
