About this artwork
This work is part of a series inspired by the Prado Museum's muses, specifically the sculptures from the collection of Christina of Sweden. In it, the artist reinterprets classical iconography from a contemporary perspective, fragmenting the body and focusing attention on the lyre: an emblem of music, inspiration, and the link between the human and the divine.
The red background acts as an emotional force that breaks the marble stillness of the… figure, introducing the vital pulse of the present into the silence of the myth. The painting oscillates between the archaeological and the expressive, between the memory of art and the vibration of color.
Fragments in Red celebrates the permanence of the muses in the current imagination: their ability to continue inspiring, transformed, over time.
