About this artwork
A friend said the sentence: We want to commit the really big sin...
An everyday situation, a sentence that inspired me to create this work.
The paint is applied in thin, translucent layers that overlap.
First markings on the raw canvas shine through, coloured areas play with free areas of the raw canvas,
where all traces remain visible, no `sin` is covered up.
The work radiates both power and lightness, dark red accents create a tension
to… light, delicately floating surfaces.
My artistic work is influenced by my studies in architecture at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design (Dipl.-Ing.). After many years working in the architectural field, I began my independent artistic career in 2001. My work exists in the tension between transition, perception, and change. I am interested in the in-between – states in which form and meaning emerge or dissolve again. In an open painting process, reduced, organic pictorial spaces are created in which color, line and emptiness interact. “Embracing the Imperfect” represents accepting imperfection as a living structure. “Just for a While” describes a moment of pause. “Thought Blossoms” refers to a process of becoming and has already entered a private context. I live and work in Kiel. I have been a member of the BBK Schleswig-Holstein since 2020.
