About this artwork
Ich habe eine große, goldene Fläche auf ein weißes Blatt gesetzt – nicht als perfektes Rechteck, sondern bewusst organisch, fast wie ein Stück Rinde oder ein abgerundetes Schild. Das Gold sollte lebendig wirken, deshalb habe ich die Oberfläche nicht glatt „totpoliert“: Im Licht entstehen Wellen, Reflexe und dunklere Zonen, die dem Ganzen Tiefe geben.
Danach bin ich mit schwarzer Farbe darübergegangen und habe viele feine, senkrechte Linien gezogen.… Ich habe sie absichtlich nicht mit dem Lineal gemacht – die Striche dürfen schwanken, enger und weiter auseinander liegen, sich leicht winden. So entsteht dieser Eindruck von Maserung, wie bei Holz oder Stoff, etwas Natürliches und Rhythmisches.
Unten habe ich die Linie dichter und kräftiger werden lassen und den Rand dunkler gefasst, damit die Form Gewicht bekommt. Links ist mir an der Kante ein bisschen Farbe/Material „ausgelaufen“ bzw. hat eine Spur hinterlassen – das habe ich nicht komplett korrigiert, da es zum Prozess gehört.
